Description:
This is the story of a country where a tyrant wields tyranny. A foreign man who has come to bring joy to the land has been captured and sentenced to death. The tyrant's wife, Heliane, takes pity on the man and they are attracted to each other, but Heliane refuses to cross the line. The tyrant plans to win his wife's heart back to him by forcing her to open her heart to a foreign man, but when he learns that this will not work, he captures her as well and summons her to trial for adultery. The work is dedicated to his wife, Lutzie. A mysterious love story unfolds amidst chromatic and profound sounds in the vein of Wagner and Richard Strauss. The enchanting sound produced by the baton of Marc Albrecht, who specializes in Romantic works, strongly attracts the audience. The singers are also notable for Brian Judge's passionate performance of "The Exotic Man" and Josef Wagner's ruthless singing performance as the tyrant. Jakubiak, who sang the titular role of Heliane, showed a strong presence with his beautiful voice and his true-to-life performance that did not hesitate to expose his nude body.Christophe Roy's direction skillfully utilizes modern equipment and costumes, emphasizing contrasts of black and white, light and shadow, and succeeds in making the "sacred," the subject of the story, appear as if in a religious painting.
