Poezi is a singer who is highly acclaimed for his unique style of fusing traditional Mongolian folk song "Ortindo" with jazz and folk, and Simon Pop, a talented artist from Munich who builds African percussion with a minimal techno sensibility. Poesi, a unit of two artists representing the German label Squama, has finally released a full album! In 2022, they released the EP "031921 5.24 5.53" in limited dubplates. Employing the very simple idea of relying on nonverbal communication, the EP was highly acclaimed as a demonstration of their open compositional approach.After approximately two years from that point, this work has evolved into a more organic ensemble. Although Enzi's characteristic vocals are more subdued than those of her previous works, her presence, unexpectedly revealed through a sea of reverb and guitar effects, is a thing of beauty. Simon, on the other hand, finds balance in the overall sound and creates space beautifully with tape echoes, analog delays, and organic wooden and metal percussion work. The result is a mysterious ambient, post-dub, and downtempo work that is not bound by any particular genre, time, or place.
