Clannad’s seventh album, released in 1983, marks a pivotal turning point in the band’s evolution from traditional Celtic folk to the dreamy, atmospheric sound that would later define their international success—and it’s now back in print! In Memory of Maire/Moya Brennan 1952–2026 On this album, *Magical Ring* (Japanese title: *The Fairy’s Poem: Magical Ring*), Irish-language songs, traditional melodies, and modern production techniques fuse to create a rich and evocative soundscape. In particular, the iconic track “Theme from Harry’s Game,” with its ethereal atmosphere, served as a major breakthrough for Clannad, reaching No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. It served as the catalyst for introducing their unique sound to a wider audience. Other notable tracks include “Newgrange,” a fan favorite known for its ethereal vocals and layered arrangements, and “I See Red,” a rare cover song for Clannad (originally by Jim Rafferty) that also charted as a single. The album itself reached No. 26 on the UK Albums Chart, marking Clannad’s first major commercial success.
