St. Thomas Church Choir presents a collection of traditional Christmas carols! The St. Thomas Church Choir (also known as St. Thomas Church Boys Choir, St. Thomas Church Choir Leipzig, etc.), a Leipzig boys' choir with a history of nearly 800 years and known for J.S. Bach's 27 years as cantor (Thomas cantor/choral director), was established in Leipzig in September 2021 as the 18th cantor after the Great Bach The orchestra entered a new era with Andreas Reisse (Andreas Reise), the first Catholic Swiss cantor since the Reformation, as the 18th cantor, and in the summer of 2023, the first recording with the new cantor, "J.S. Bach: Mass in B minor, BWV 232" (VROP 405253/ROP405253). The release of this album has received a great response for the traditional singing voice that continues to be passed down from generation to generation, and for the high level of leadership and perfection that is hard to believe that this is only one year after Leitze took over the position. Their next release is a collection of Christmas carols. For them, these songs are more than just musical performances; they represent a cultural heritage that has been built up over a long period of time and a special presence that symbolizes the continuity of the Christmas tradition.The result is a Christmas album that can be said to be unique to the St. Thomas Church Choir, with plenty of carols by past cantors such as Calvigius, Schein, Scherer, Mauersberger, and Biller.
