Formed in 2021, Tokyo-based Alternative Soul Punk Band "MOOS" has released its first album. Limited release of 190 copies in vinyl format (45rpm / mp3 download code included). MOOS is a four-piece band consisting of vocalist ROJO, guitarist/vocalist Yu Suganami, bassist/vocalist K Imaizumi, and drummer/vocalist Kotaro Matsuda. The members also belong to GORO GOLO, MEGA X, and Thiiird Place. MOOS is an abbreviation of "My own opinions". MOOS means moss in German, and like moss, the band's name implies that each individual's thoughts and opinions will take root and spread. This album, the band's first album, features 13 tracks with a funky and strange PUNK/HARDCORE sound, Afrobeat, folky slowcore, and other diverse faces.This album, recorded by recording engineer Yusuke Shinma, is a unique interpretation of 80's/90's US Alternative PUNK represented by early SSTs such as Big Boys and Minutemen. It is a work that firmly reflects the atmosphere of the year 2023. MOOS is characterized as a punk band with the theme of "introspection. Instead of considering themselves and their community as a minority, they consider themselves as a privileged majority, as cis-men of Japanese nationality living in this country, and they do not stop at political and social messages, but rather look at and sing about machismo, misogyny, and violence in the live scenes and lives that they are exposed to.
