Description:

Super Skunk is the latest edition of the popular Jazz Dispensary series of compilations that have been released exclusively on RSD! This time the drums and horns are thicker, easier on the ears, and a whole new blend! Side A opens with Gary Bartz's supremely funky "Make Me Feel Better", followed by the awe-inspiring "The Birds" and "The Birds", and then the "The Birds" is followed by "The Birds", "The Birds", "The Birds" and "The Birds". Me Feel Better" opens the show and continues the vibe with Cannonball Adderley's 1974 "Pyramid," while the Bar-Kays are extravagant with their 1978 Traffic cover of "Feelin' Alright"! The album also closes with Houston Person's 1971 soul-jazz classic "The Houston Express" and Art Jerry Miller's chill-out instrumental "Finger Lickin' Good." The B-side features Philadelphia's fusion pioneers Catalyst set the pace with "Ain't It the Truth" from their 1970 self-titled debut, and Woody Herman does a fine cover of Herbie Hancock's "Fat Mama." The Mexican Rabbits & Carrots kick things off with "Las Cuatro Culturas."This high-energy instrumental, taken from the 1970 LP Soul Latino, is a rarity and a favorite among funk fanatics and crate diggers. The album closes with the hard grooving "You've Got to Do Your Best" from the Pazant Brothers & the Beaufort Express' 1975 LP Loose and Juicy. The album is pressed on eye-catching vinyl with a jacket designed by Grammy Award-winning art director Masaki Koike and featuring an original illustration by Humbert Howard.
