Description:
A project for the 100th anniversary of Switner's birth. A masterpiece album featuring star singers from the former East Germany such as Casapietra, Schreier and Adam at that time! Mastered only in the analog domain and converted directly to DSD! This is the latest reissue of the original ETERNA analog tapes in Japan, and the 24th SACD hybrid version of one of Switner's (1922.5.16-2010.1.8) acclaimed Mozart recordings, recorded in 1969 with the Staatskapelle Berlin. Cosi fan tutte" was recorded in Italio, a pioneering recording at that time. Until then, Italian operas were often sung in East Germany with German translations (including recordings by other labels), but from the late 1960s, the number of operas sung in the original language gradually increased. This recording is in the original language and is Switner's only non-German opera from a session recording, making it a valuable source. Another feature of this recording is the rich expressiveness of the singers. Celestina Casapietra, who played the role of Fiordiligi, was Mrs. Kegel at the time, and was a prima donna at the Berlin State Opera, and since then has also performed abroad. The other singers include Peter Schreier, Theo Adam, and other famous singers, which shows how much effort ETERNA put into the production at that time. In this reissue, the original analog master tapes from the country of origin were newly used for the latest digitalization, so the sound quality is better than that of conventional CDs. The voices, the thickness of the orchestra, and the overall spaciousness have been improved, and you will be able to enjoy the finest tone quality. The overall sound quality is calm and mellow. Unlike previous CDs, DISC 1 is recorded in the middle of the first act, and is partially crossed over to DISC 2.For this reissue, the master tapes were flown from the label to Vienna-based mastering engineer Christoph Stickel's studio, mastered in the analog domain, and then digitized using separate systems for DSD for the SACD layer and PCM for the CD layer. The project was then digitized into a product. This project realized the ideal method of mastering as far as currently conceivable. The effect is remarkable: it is now possible to reproduce the quality that was left on the master tape with extreme fidelity, and the mastering and direct DSD conversion in the analog domain only has even greater sonic benefits. The result is a performance that is so clear and resolved compared to the previous version that further appreciation of the performance can be expected. The manual also includes a photograph of the outer box of the original analog master tape used in this project.
