A live recording of Stravinsky's melodrama Persephone by Salonen & the Finnish National Opera Orchestra!SACD hybrid disc, recorded live at the Helsinki Festival in August 2017, performed by Esa-Pekka Salonen with the Finnish National Opera Orchestra. Stravinsky's theater work Persephone will be released! Persephone, a French melodrama composed by Stravinsky in 1933-1934 (revised in 1949), was written for tenor solo voice, female narrator, mixed chorus, children's chorus, and orchestra, and includes three scenes: Scene 1 "Persephone Abducted," Scene 2 Persephone," and a third scene, "Persephone Reborn." The work, also known as "Another Rite of Spring," was performed by Alexander Lazarev at the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra's 700th Subscription Concert in May 2018, and its premiere in Japan was a hot topic. This beautiful and sad story based on Greek mythology is a hidden masterpiece by Stranbisky.Salonen has made a name for himself as a Stravinsky wielder with a series of recordings of Stravinsky for SONY in his early 30s and "The Rite of Spring" for DG, but this is his first recording of this work. This is the first recording of this work. Salonen's performance is a definitive recording of this work, with a precise control of the nuances of color and the sharpness and flexibility of rhythm.
