A collection of concerto works by Kalevi Aho, one of the leading contemporary Finnish composers!SACD hybrid disc. Concerto works starring the recorder, tenor saxophone, and accordion are few and far between, and seem to have been created only rarely. Finnish composer Kalevi Aho has had many opportunities to meet instrumentalists who are willing to try something daring, and inspired by their instruments and performances, he has worked on various concertos for "rare" instruments. The "Concerto for Recorder and Chamber Orchestra" is a one-movement work. Starting with the "mysterioso" and ending with the "coda," the tempo changes in various ways. On September 3, 2021, Eero Saunamaki will perform solo with the Saimaa Sinfonietta conducted by Erkki Rasompalo. The work was premiered on September 3, 2021, by the Saimaa Sinfonietta, conducted by Erkki Lassompalo. The Concerto for Tenor Saxophone and Small Orchestra was also written in one movement.Mesto (sadly) - Interlude I - Vivacissimo, leggero (vigorously, lightly) - Interlude II - Andante, dolente (walking fast, painfully) - Allegro ritomico (slightly faster, rhythmically) - Cadenza - Epilogue." The full potential of the tenor saxophone is explored, and the orchestra also uses the oriental goblet drum "darabucca. "Esa Pietila, soloist for the premiere on March 10, 2016, participated in this recording session. The "Sonata concertante" is an adaptation of the 1984 "Sonata No. 1 for Accordion and Strings" at the suggestion of Janne Valcarejoki. It consists of two movements, "Prelude - Passacaglia" and "Fugue - Andante - Più mosso - Reggello," and requires a virtuosity as astonishing as Franz Liszt's virtuosic works. played the solo and Lassompalo conducted the St. Michael's String Orchestra in its premiere in Mikkeli.(1/2) King International
