Principal cello of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra! Sanvik plays Rachma & Shostakos! Cellist Audun Sanvik was born in Bergen. He studied with János Starker at Indiana University and with Tors Mørk, Åge Kvarbein, and Lász Anders Tomtel at the Norwegian National University of Music. 2013, he received the Lindemann Prize, awarded to young musicians. He is principal cellist of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, and artistic director of the Groppen Music Festival. His co-partner, pianist Svainning Bjeran, was born in Stavanger. He studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Berlin University of the Arts with Hans Reigraf. He was the Norwegian Concert Association's "Young Soloist of the Year" in 1999. He performs chamber music with soloists and singers mainly of his generation, and his sincere musical style, reminiscent of his teacher Reigraaf, is said to be shared by his collaborators, critics, and audiences. He is a professor at the Norwegian National College of Music.The first album by this longtime collaborating duo is Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich, two masterpieces of Russian cello sonatas!
