La Serenissima is a period ensemble founded in 1994 by Adrian Chandler, one of the UK's leading baroque violinists, and has won two Gramophone Awards for its world premiere recordings of unknown and rediscovered works by composers from 18th century Venice and its surroundings, including Vivaldi, the "Red-Haired Priest." ("Serenissima" means "a sunny place," which is another name for Venice, Serenissima" is another name for Venice). Adrian Chandler & La Serenissima, Vivaldi specialists who have recorded many of Vivaldi's lesser-known works and unknown composers of his generation, have finally recorded Vivaldi's magnum opus, "Attempts at Harmony and Creativity," Op.8 in its entirety! Vivaldi's most famous and best-loved masterpiece, The Four Seasons, had been recorded in 2015 as "Chandler's version based on the Manchester manuscript score," but this time, as the first installment of "Harmony and Creative Experimentation," Op.8, they will perform concertos Nos. 1-6, including "The Four Seasons" among the 12 concertos, as well as two concertos not included in Op.8 This new recording is in the form of a coupling of two concertos not included in the Tokyo M-Plus
