A new re-release of the orchestral version of Haydn's "The Last Seven Words of Christ on the Cross," originally released on Glossa (GCD921109), is now available in a new version with a reading by the famous Polish actor, Gustav Holoubek. The NIFC (Polish National Chopin Institute) has released a new live recording of Haydn's "The Last Seven Words of Christ on the Cross" for orchestra in 2004. The NIFC version is a reconstructed oratorio style with readings from the Bible (recorded in 1999 in Polish) by Gustav Holoubek (1923-2008), a famous Polish actor and politician, who reads from the Bible (the passages containing the respective "words of Jesus" that are the concept of the work) in between the movements.The booklet includes Polish & English texts of the readings and musical examples corresponding to the "Words of Jesus".
