Heavee, a footwork DJ and producer from Chicago, U.S.A., releases his latest work on "Hyperdub"! Chicago is proud of its high-speed ghetto electronic dance music, juke/footwork. Heavee, a queer DJ and producer who has been active in the scene for many years, has released his latest album "Unleash" on Hyperdub! The EP "Audio Assault" (2022) showcased synth-driven melodic footwork, but this new release is even more refined in its sonic space construction, with 14 tracks of mellow, shimmering chord sequences echoing across a lush, spongy, contracting sound palette. Minimal and airy, with a sharpened sense of balance between light and dark, sometimes breezy and sometimes cool, Heavee reconstructs the framework and vibe of footwork, weaving a unique worldview. 160BPM, the basic form of footwork, is used as a springboard to create a new drum sound, incorporating R&B, rap, jazz, and grime, The album incorporates R&B, rap, jazz, grime, and even a sprinkling of vintage Detroit techno.This is a piece that takes Footwork's "eat everything" approach in a novel direction with a free spirit, and leaves a strong mark on its history.
