Slayer stands out as a unique force within the thrash metal scene and is a key driving force behind it. Since their formation in 1981, their album artwork and lyrics have sparked controversy, yet their albums have achieved high sales, and they won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance two years in a row in 2007 and 2008. Despite this impressive track record, the band went on hiatus in November 2019, but reunited in 2024 for their first tour in five years. Now, a live archive from Slayer’s 1986 tour is being released.
Their third album, *Reign in Blood*, released in October 1986, had a running time of just 29 minutes and 4 seconds, and its release was delayed due to the controversial nature of the lyrics. To coincide with the album’s release, the North America-exclusive *Reign In Blood Tour* was held, consisting of 32 shows. During that tour, the December 6, 1986, show in New York was recorded and broadcast as a radio program for promotional purposes. This album is a live recording based on that broadcast, with only two songs omitted due to time constraints.
Slayer’s signature sound—with its overwhelming heaviness and breakneck speed—explodes in this live performance, dragging the audience into a cauldron of excitement. This is a live album that allows you to fully enjoy Slayer’s early live performances.
