NIFC's LP Series! Chopin Competition Live by Oleinichak! NIFC (Chopin Institute/Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina) in Poland has started a new LP series, 180g hardcover vinyl with a special limited first pressing of Janusz Oleiniczak's Chopin Competition Live! Chopin Competition Live! The 8th International Chopin Piano Competition held in 1970 was the first of the "Chopin Competitions in October," a commemorative event that continues to this day, as the competition, previously held in February and March, was changed to October, Chopin's famous date. It is also known as the year when Garrick Ohlsson became the first American winner, and Mitsuko Uchida recorded the second place, the highest Japanese ever (tied with Kyohei Sanda in 2021), a feat that remains unbroken to this day. Janusz Oleinichuk was 18 years old at the time, and became the youngest competitor (6th place) in the 8th competition.He used a Steinway piano, which he felt was special to him at the time, and later recalled that the performance was "a bit sad and sentimental, but very authentic (authentic). This recording is etched with the pure artistic passion that transcended technicalities, which he dedicated to Chopin as a young man. He died suddenly in October 2024 (at the age of 72), leaving behind a rare live recording that can be regarded as the starting point of his career. This is a memorial recording of the master musician Oleynichak, who passed away suddenly in October 2024 (aged 72). Like Mitsuko Uchida's recordings, Oleynichak's live recordings of the competition have only been partially released, and this NIFC release is the first time that they have been made into a complete album.
