A fascinating collection of works by Clement, the premiere performer of Beethoven's Violin Concerto! Franz Clement was an Austrian-born violinist and composer. A child prodigy from an early age, at the age of 14 he befriended Beethoven, who was so impressed by his playing that he later premiered his violin concerto. Clement himself composed numerous violin and unaccompanied violin pieces for piano or orchestra, including the "12 Caprices," which has a virtuosity reminiscent of Paganini as well as a beautiful melody and lyricism. The variations on popular operatic and ballet melodies of the time also feature ornate melodies that require great skill. The performance is by Lin Hao Li, the youngest winner of the 2008 China International Violin Competition and an active violinist in China, Southeast Asia, and the U.S. The beautiful sound of the 1732 Niccolò Galliano is used to create a superbly crafted performance.
