Wagner composed "The Ring of the Nibelung" over a period of 26 years. It is a tetralogy based on Norse mythology and is a lengthy work requiring 15 hours to perform in its entirety. Because of this, the orchestral parts of the opera are often performed separately, and later composers have arranged the parts so that the audience can enjoy the story even without singing. Joanne Falletta, one of the most sought-after female conductors of 2018, gives an imposing performance on this album.
