Stylish and meltingly authentic Viennese waltzes and polkas. Willy Boskovsky (1909-1991) was a native Viennese, first as concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic and then as conductor. It is well known that Boskovsky played many Strauss waltzes and polkas with his violin during a tour of Japan with the Vienna Philharmonic in 1959. The recordings have survived, and now all 15 pieces have been released on CD. Most Japanese audiences will be able to share the intoxicating experience of being exposed to the authentic Viennese flavor for the first time. The audience can feel the atmosphere of relaxation and enjoyment of the orchestra members, which was different from the atmosphere at the Mozart and Brahms performances.
