Description:
The first release after BR KLASSIK was founded was Bruckner and Mahler's Symphony No. 7, conducted by Mariss Jansons. Both performances were recorded in 2007, and the high degree of perfection of the recordings greatly enhanced the visibility of the label. The Bruckner No. 4 was recorded in 2008 but never circulated to the general public. It was first seen as an official CD in the "Bruckner Box" released in April 2019. Jansons carefully reads the score and adds his own interpretation, presenting Bruckner as only he can. Jansons used the second draft of the Novak edition of 1878/1880 (1886 version) for his performance. The horns at the beginning of the first movement, reminiscent of the dawn, are extremely relaxed and extended. As the piece progresses, the addition of multi-layered sounds thrills the listener's ears. Following the profound second movement, which contrasts beautifully with the first movement, the third movement, the scherzo, offers the crisp sound movements typical of Jansons. In the last part of the last movement, the horns recall the first movement in high spirits, and the tension in Jansons's performance never ceases until the piece comes to a moving close.
