Description:

Michael Giles, a founding member of King Crimson, has had a profound influence not only on the progressive rock scene but also on a wide range of artists, and was ranked 49th on *Rolling Stone* magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time. On March 1, 2026, he will celebrate his 84th birthday and simultaneously release two solo albums—his first in 24 years. To commemorate this occasion, his debut solo album from 2002 is being reissued on UHQCD! This album, Michael Giles’ debut solo effort, was produced primarily with Canterbury-scene artists—including his brother Peter Giles, Caravan’s Geoffrey Richardson and John G. Perry, Jimmy Hastings, and Dave McRae of the Matching Moles—and was completed in 1978. However, due to the state of the music scene at the time, Michael Giles himself decided to shelve the album. Yet, with the revival of the 21st Century Schizoid Band, he remixed the material, and it was finally released in 2002—25 years after its completion. While evoking echoes of the sounds of King Crimson and McDonald & Giles, this is a superb work in which his talents as a drummer, composer, and producer shine throughout the entire album. Domestic Edition *UHQCD *E-style single paper sleeve (with obi strip and bilingual track notes by Michael Giles) Michael Giles (drums, percussion, piano, keyboards, guitar, clavinet, vocals) Jeffrey Richardson (guitar, flute, viola, vocals, bass) Peter Giles (bass) Dave McRae (piano, Hammond organ) John G.
