Description:
This is the second collection of "Prokofiev: Piano Concertos" by two leading Finnish virtuosos, Lintu and Mustonen. The Piano Concerto No. 2 was composed between 1912 and 1913, and it is said that Myaskovsky was so excited when he heard the first performance that he wrote a letter of praise to Prokofiev. However, due to the Russian Revolution, the complete score was lost, and it was later restored by Prokofiev himself in 1923. The piano plays an active part throughout the entire work, and although the first movement is meditative at the beginning, the second theme in the style of a folk song, the intense toccata form of the second movement, the profound third movement, and the intense and energetic final movement are all full of wildness. It was premiered by Prokofiev himself, accompanied by the Berlin Philharmonic under Furtwängler, shortly after its completion. Compared to the piano-dominated No. 2, the orchestral part of the accompaniment is more difficult to play, and it was considered a work that was not easily recorded. Naxos Japan
