Katie Melua is a singer/songwriter born in Georgia (formerly Georgia) and based in the UK. Here in Japan, she has been attracting fans with her clear and soothing vocals, and now she has completed another beautiful cinematic album. The title of this album is "NO.8," her first studio album in four years since her 2016 winter album "IN WINTER. It is her eighth studio album in total. In this album, Katy depicts love songs from her mature perspective as a woman and an artist in her mid-30s. Many of the songs, however, are about the pain of love. For example, in "Remind Me To Forget," Katie wishes she could forget her heartache in the abundance of nature, and in "Your Longing Is Gone," she writes a requiem for a fading romance.The songwriting for the album was influenced by her own marriage to Superbike racer James Toseland, who ended their marriage, and she has said that she actually used the studio as "a confessional place". New inspirations for this album include Elis & Tom, a collaboration between Elis Regina and Antonio Carlos Jobim, Highway Rider by Brad Meldreau, and Bob Dylan's book Chronicles, Volume One. One". After the release of her last album, Katie decided to do all the lyrics herself for her next album, and attended the Faber Academy in London, where she studied in a short story writing course and honed her songwriting skills. The album was produced and arranged by Leo Abrahams with Katy, co-written by Sam Dixon, and mixed by Cameron Craig and Luke Potashnick. The album also features Georgia's Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom she performed on "Bridge Over Troubled Water," which appears on her 2019 best-of album, ULTIMATE COLLECTION.The deluxe edition includes five additional bonus tracks: four acoustic versions of songs from the album and "Forever," a song not included on the album.
