Sidonie Bechet's son's only extremely rare fusion work is being reissued in analog for the first time in 45 years! Daniel Bechet, the son of Sidonie Bechet, the famous clarinetist and saxophonist who is a leading figure of jazz soprano saxophone, and a drummer in France, reissued in analog for the first time in about 45 years his only fusion/jazz funk work in 1979, the 20th anniversary of his father's death. Although the title of the album is a tribute to his father, the content does not inherit his father's style, but is a super groovy piece that reflects the heyday of fusion. It is a hidden masterpiece with a mellow/soulful mood that envelops the entire album, with Fender Rhodes and guitar sounds reminiscent of George Duke and Steely Dan! The phrase "What shall we make with Goochokipaa? The song is a playful and fun take on the familiar Japanese phrase, "Guchokipa de nani wo sakurasho? (The title is the original French folk song "Frere Jacques" + the English version "Are You Sleeping Brother John?It's a bit gruesome because it also gives us a glimpse of his father, who was born in the U.S. as a Creole, and his roots growing up in France.
