The pipe organ has many excellent audio recordings in terms of its rich presence in the church, but the sounds of the Arendt organ recorded here will make you realize a new fascination with the organ. Jürgen Arendt, born in 1930, is one of the greatest organ builders of our time. He is known as a revivalist of the so-called "historical method" of organbuilding, and is well known in Japan for the organ in Casals Hall. The organ's simple design and clear tone will dispel the image of "loud" and "solemn" organs.This album is composed by Georg Böhm and Dietrich Buxtehude, two composers who greatly influenced J.S. Bach, and shows their relationship with Bach in organ music. Buxtehude's Prelude in D minor is similar to Bach's famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor, and the Passacaglia is exactly like Bach's Passacaglia BWV 582, showing that organ works before Bach were integrated by Bach, who brought organ music from church music to its higher status. Martin Neu, who plays the organ, learned to play not only the organ but also the piano and cello from an early age, and his talent blossomed. He studied organ at the Stuttgart University of Music and the Concordia University of Montreal, and has won prizes at the J.S. Bach International Competition and other prestigious awards.He is currently the resident organist at St. Elizabeth's, St. Peter's and St. Paul's churches in Reutlingen.
