A member of the male vocal ensemble Stimwerk, this 16th-century vocal work is sung by Franz Witzum, a countertenor of great promise in the German classical music world, and features Kaspar Ottmaier (1515-1553). Kaspar Ottmaier was a German Lutheran pastor and composer who served as rector of the Heilsbronn Abbey School and music director of Ansbach, and composed many hymns inspired by Martin Luther. In "Gift & Gegengift" (Poison & Antidote), compiled by gambist Silvia Tekaldi as a guide to the works of Kaspar Ottmaier and his contemporaries, Georg Forster's five-volume collection of songs, "Frische Teutsche Liedlein", includes The seven deadly sins of Christianity and the virtues against them are combined with works by Otmaier and various composers.
