The album title "Werbunkosch" refers to Hungarian dances that were popular from the end of the 18th century to the middle of the 19th century. Composers with a strong Hungarian spirit such as Liszt, Bartók, and Kodály adopted these dances in their works, giving them a nationalistic flavor. Here, the young cellist Volodya van Keulen, born in Besançon, gives a dry interpretation. Volodja van Keulen is a student of Laurent Pidoux and a rising star in the cello world who performed in Japan at the 2018 Forgeurne Festival. The album begins unaccompanied, and then offers a duet with violin and piano to fully enjoy the charms of Hungarian music. King International
