The latest work in 6 years by a Spanish band with arabic melodies, female vocals, and an exhilarating rhythm section. AMAROK, a Spanish band that has been active since 1990 with a hiatus in between, is now back with their '21 album! It has been six years since their return to the scene in 2003, and the band still has the same members, including core member Robert Santamaría and female vocalist Marta Segura. The band continues to use a wide variety of musicians, including trumpet, violin, didgeridoo, and theremin, and blends influences such as early Mike Oldfield and Arabian Middle Eastern melodies while maintaining an acoustic, intelligent symphonic quality with a Mediterranean flair. The rhythm section is quite skilled and plays exhilarating jazz-rock rhythms. The arabic atmosphere of the beautiful vocals and the rhythms with a lot of hands/note counts are richly played, but the consistently transparent texture is ear-catching, and it is a wonderful piece with an even more powerful and gorgeous sound!
