16" is the solo debut album of Einar Solberg, frontman of the Norwegian modern progressive metal band LEPROUS. 16". This album is an intimate and extravagant collaboration between Einar and like-minded songwriters and musicians. The album is a collaboration of like-minded songwriters and musicians, including Ben Levin of the American art rock band BENT KNEE, Toti Gudnason of Iceland's AGENT FRESCO, and Asger Mygind of Denmark's VOLA, as well as a number of musicians from LEPROUS's live musicians, experimental cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne, guitarist Magnus Bormark of the Norwegian alternative folk group Gate, and IHSAHN and his wife, Einar's sister, STAROFASH (Heidi Solberg Tveitan). About the album, Einar says, "I came up with the idea for a solo effort. 'I think it was around the beginning of 2018 that I came up with the idea for my solo work. I'm usually the type of person who acts on an idea as soon as it occurs to me, so it's not often that I've had such a long time to conceptualize something. Part of it is that LEPROUS has been very active so far. I felt like I've basically been in the same band from the age of 16 all the way up until now as an adult.I have a very strong creative desire and I felt I needed some other activity. So I reached out to composers that I respect and would like to work with. The concept for this album was to collaborate 50/50 with one composer per song. We'd bounce ideas back and forth and put the two worlds together. The concept is to have fun with others and learn something new." I titled the film "16" because that was the age in my life when things started to get really bad for the first time, and from the age of 16 to 19 there were a lot of life-defining moments that changed me. It was then that I lost my innocence and began to understand that life is serious and bad things can happen. During those three years, many intense events happened to me. But "16" is not only about the bad things. It is also about career-defining moments, like when I started playing in a band and found my place and community. This album covers all my emotions." Comprised of seven songs co-written with seven amazing composers and four solo tracks, "16" is more specific and in-depth than LEPROUS' work, focusing more on the individual "Einar Solberg". The album was mixed by Adam Noble (PLACEBO, BIFFY CLYRO, NOTHING BUT THIEVES) and mastered by Robin Schmidt (THE 1975, PLACEBO, THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM).The album comes in a digipak with a 24-page booklet.
