Grammy bassist Christian McBride, Jeff Keyser (p), and successful drummer Willie Jones III. This is a remarkable work by an all-star group that truly represents the New York jazz world. The album features 10 tracks, all original compositions by Steve Davis. Steve's extraordinary talent for composing and arranging music can be heard on every track. Recording this album was like a family reunion," says Steve, "and it was a pleasure to play with this group." says Steve.Having studied with Jackie McLean and played with the Jazz Messengers, Davis' musicality has always been filled with love and songfulness for traditional jazz. Although all of the music is original, it has a warm, familiar sound that is strikingly familiar. Steve's solos, of course, but also Peter Bernstein's bluesy playing, Steve Nelson's massive vibraphone solos, Jeff Keyser's hot solos as the last pianist of the Jazz Messengers, and Christian McBride's unflappable rhythm playing.
