500 years after his death, a collection of masses and motets by the master of the French Renaissance, Jean Mouton! The Brabant Ensemble, nominated three times for the Gramophone Prize, presents its second collection of Jean Mouton's works! The Brabant Ensemble and Stephen Rice are passionate about discovering and researching the unknown music and polyphony of the Netherlandish and Flemish musical schools. The Brabant Ensemble, which has been nominated for the Gramophone Prize three times, presents a collection of works by Jean Mouton (1459-1522). The French Renaissance composer Jean Mouton is thought to have been born by the late 1450s, although details of his childhood are not known. It is believed that he was then especially active as choirmaster of the Amiens Cathedral, and that he spent time at the Paris court from 1502 until his death. He was also known as a pedagogue and was the teacher of Adrien Villalto. Mouton's works are numerous, with more than 10 masses and 100 motets in existence alone.On the 500th anniversary of his death, hear the beautiful polyphony of the Brabant Ensemble, a musical tradition of the Flemish School.
