Bach's "Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord" (ONYX4020), which won great acclaim as a duo with Ottavio D'Antone, comes the queen, Mullova's Bach. The fifth release of Mullova's long-awaited and much anticipated "Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin and Harpsichord" is now available on Onyx! Although he recorded three "Solo Partitas" in modern style for Philips in 1992-1993, he did not record the three "Solo Sonatas" as if they were in contradiction. After meeting and performing with such great masters of the ancient music world as Gardiner, Dantone, Arnoncourt, Antonini and Il Giardino Armonico, researching and pursuing period techniques, and experiencing changes in his interpretation of J.S. Bach's music, Mullova finally recorded the "Solo Sonatas Violin Sonatas and Partitas" in its entirety! For the recording of the complete "Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin", Mullova chose a 1750 G.B. Guadagnini with gut strings and a Walter Baerviello Baroque bow, the "Mullova style" that has sustained him in recent years.The results of the unique style that Mullova created to pursue the music of J.S. Bach, or the music of the Baroque period, have been proven in the previous "Sonatas" (ONYX4020), so expectations are tremendously high for the "Complete Unaccompanied Works" this time.
