Long-awaited new recording of Canto Ostinato (4-piano version)! A new recording of "Canto Ostinato" by Simeon ten Holt (1923-2012), one of the leading contemporary Dutch composers, is now available! This work is an indispensable masterpiece of Dutch music and has been arranged for various instruments. This time, the original "four-piano version" has been released, allowing the audience to once again enjoy the original sound of this work. The composer Simeon ten Holt himself could not understand why this work was so loved by the audience, who, depending on the concert, would lie down on a mattress or right under the grand piano. It has been about 50 years since "Canto Ostinato" first appeared in the world. It is time to consider the appeal of this work once again. The "Simeon Quartet," formed in 1996 and named after Simeon ten Holt, plays "Canto Ostinato" every year. Some of the members of the Quartet have studied with Simeon ten Holt and have performed with him before.The piano is a Straight Strung Concert Grand by Chris Maene, which made a splash when Daniel Barenboim played it in 2015. The strings are not crossed like on a modern grand piano, but are all strung parallel like on a fortepiano or harpsichord, giving the piano a unique sound that combines the characteristics of both fortepianos and modern pianos.
