Born and raised in a Senegalese griot family, SOURAKATA KOITE is a very talented kora player who was once a member of MANU DIBANGO's band in Paris in the 1970's. His debut album "EN HOLLANDE" was released in 1985. AWESOME TAPES FROM AFRICA is proud to announce the reissue! The combination of Kora's characteristic earthy and elegant tone, which includes a noise component similar to the shamisen "sawawari", and the snarling vocals, is highly addictive the more you listen to it. This is a true masterpiece that deserves to be heard by as many people as possible, even among the many Kora records available. A must-have masterpiece for all mankind that is too good to be listened to only by African music fans. !!!!
