Les McCann is a New Soul extraordinaire known for discovering Roberta Flack. However, he originally debuted as a jazz pianist in the Oscar Peterson vein. This CD is literally the complete version of his early masterpiece "In San Francisco," with the addition of four tracks from the compilation album "From the Top of the Barrel" released later in the year. The album is full of crisp acoustic jazz, but it also includes songs that emphasize the funky and gospel feeling that was already present in his later appearances, and will appeal to a wide range of music fans.
