Description:
The SACD hybrid version of Shostakovich's Symphonies Nos. 4 & 10 by Pletnyov with a freshness that stands out! The Russian National Orchestra's series of recordings of Shostakovich's complete symphonies. Mikhail Pletnyov is the winner of the piano section of the International Tchaikovsky Competition held in 1978. In 1990, the Russian National Orchestra became the first privately funded orchestra in Russia after investing his own money to acquire various sponsors, including foundations and corporations. In 1990, the orchestra became the first privately funded orchestra in Russia. The orchestra, whose members are of high standard and full of ambition, made its debut in November 1990 with great success, and since then has continued to give regular concerts in its home city of Moscow as well as remarkable performances in many countries around the world. The Fourth Symphony is the largest of Shostakovich's 15 symphonies and is shrouded in mystery, requiring 134 musicians. The more one listens to this work, the more one appreciates it and discovers something new each time. The three-movement format is also a first for Shostakovich, and each movement has its own unique structure, with clear traces of Mahler, including quotations from Mahler. The third movement, Largo-Allegro, is a funeral march-like piece, but then a light and lively musical idea is introduced, creating a fashionable mood like scene music from a comic ballet. The DSCH form, taken from the initials, is an important motif in No. 10, composed in 1953. It is said to represent Shostakovich himself, liberated after the end of the Stalinist regime. Pletnyov is skilled at bringing out the clear beauty of the music, and his performance is impressive for its freshness. In addition to the excellence of the performance, you can enjoy the superb high quality sound recording by the technical team of the PENTATONE label, recorded with DSD recording technology for multi-channel compatibility.
