A collection of three commissioned concertos written for Renaud, who celebrated the milestone of turning 40 in 2016. Renaud Capuçon, who has grown to become one of France's leading violinists, celebrates his 40th birthday this year (2016). Renaud, who has consciously undertaken a commissioned work each year, decided to celebrate his 40th birthday by commissioning three currently active composers, Rihm, Dusapin, and B. Mantovani, to compose violin concertos for a single album. Of the commission, Renaud said, "The first time I hear a commissioned work is an exciting moment, like reading a love letter. The reason why I work on commissioned works every year is because I used to be impressed by the active performance of commissioned works by Kremer and Mutter when I was younger, and I started working on them to fulfill my own responsibility as a violinist of our time.Working with living composers is like a dream, because there are "answers" right there. You can't ask Bach, "What is the meaning of this part? I can't ask Bach, "What is the meaning of this? I can't ask Bach, 'What is the meaning of this part? Philippe Jordan, the principal conductor of the Opéra National de Paris and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, is highly acclaimed in Europe.
