Trevor Pinnock, a British giant in the world of classical music, turned 60 on December 16, 2006.The new recording of Pinnock's second Brandenburg Concerto, made possible by the world-renowned master's 60th birthday project, is now available on Avie! The European Brandenburg Ensemble (http://www.europeanbrandenburg.com/), which takes its name from Pinnock's eponymous "Brandenburg Concerto," is an ensemble of the English Consort, King's Consort, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Age of Enlightenment, and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. The European Brandenburg Ensemble (), named after the Brandenburg Concerto, is an all-star group of musicians from the world's leading period orchestras such as the English Consort, King's Consort, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Age of Enlightenment Orchestra, Il Giardino Armonico, and Gabrieli Consort, who have gathered under Pinnock to form the ensemble.The European Brandenburg Ensemble was formed exclusively for Pinnock's 60th anniversary and has given concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Malaysia, Korea, Spain, Germany, England, etc., and recorded Bach for this release. This new recording comes 25 years after the first recording with the English Consort on Alheif in 1982.
