Andrea Centazzo, an Italian-born American percussionist and composer who has remained at the forefront of Italy's and Europe's free improvisation, minimal music, and avant-jazz scenes from the 1970s to the present, notably through collaborations with Steve Lacy, Evan Parker, and Lol Coxhill. and minimal electronic music, highly regarded among collectors. A follow-up to Andrea's 1976 work 'ELECTRONIC MIND WAVE', released under the name ELEKTRIKTUS, is now available as a limited edition of 250 LPs on the avant-garde music label Ictus Records, run by Andrea Centazzo and his wife Carla Lugli. Though titled "Volume 2," this work is not merely a sequel album. It is an ambitious release born from a transcendent dialogue with his past self. It takes as its foundation previously unreleased recordings from the '75 "ELEKTRIKTUS" sessions, recently unearthed from the attic, and overlays them with 2025 digital electronics and Andrea's current performances. It is a unique masterpiece, completed through Andrea's distinctive methodology—neither retrospective nor revisionist, but firmly focused on the "present." It achieves this by creating a resonance between the abstract soundscapes Andrea created in 1975 through trial-and-error improvisation and electronic experimentation, and the pulsating percussion performed by the current Andrea, who, after over 50 years of musical activity, has deeply understood the essence of improvisation.
