by the brilliant Gilles Colyard Richard Fleury: Violin Sonatas! Richard Fleury's violin sonatas have recently been reappraised by the brilliant Gilles Colliard. Richard Fleury was born in Switzerland and studied composition under Hans Huber and Joseph Marx. He studied conducting under Felix Weingartner. His style is neo-romantic but also influenced by impressionism. He wrote operas, masses, symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and other works, eleven violin sonatas in all. Gilles Colliard was born in Geneva. He graduated at the top of his class from the Conservatoire de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He studied under Jean-Pierre Varèse and Tibor Varga. He has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. He is also active as a conductor and composer/arranger, and has released more than 50 CD recordings. The performance by these two virtuosos is very suitable for these clear works. Every part of the piece gives the impression of a picture postcard of Switzerland, and the variety of the music's development is fully expressed. The violin soars through the landscape created by the piano, and the listener can enjoy a world without any clouds.The soundstage is very wide, but never bloated, allowing you to listen to the music without feeling fatigue until the end.
