Evgeny Mogilevsky (1945-), a favorite pupil of Genlif Negus of one of the largest Russian piano schools, made his name known to the world by winning the 1964 Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition as the youngest ever winner at the time. The revival of his Chopin album from 1991, his first recording in the West, will attract a great deal of attention, as it is the first recording of Mogilevsky in the West and marks his unknown pianism from the 1990s onward.
