A Promising New Act Described as "Brian Wilson Meets Death Grips" Makes Their Debut on Ninja Tune London-based trio Ebbb has released their debut album on the prestigious Ninja Tune label. Created by Lev Ceylan (producer), Will Rowland (vocals), and Scott MacDonald (drums), this ambitious work further expands upon their musical style—previously described as “Brian Wilson meets Death Grips”—to achieve a more multifaceted and maximalist sound. The lead single, “Now You Know,” is the album’s lightest and most upbeat track, blending lyrics that depict obsessive love with drumming that hints at African and South American influences, all fused with a pop sensibility that spreads like sunlight. With the support of co-producer Tom Stafford and the addition of live drummer MacDonald, this album achieves a more organic and expansive soundscape than ever before. The album features a diverse lineup of genre-spanning tracks, including the calypso-style electronic pop “Come Alive,” “Home Ground,” which evolves from introspective vocals into a grand crescendo, and “Side On,” where drum ’n’ bass and choral elements intertwine. Toward the end, dark techno and choral arrangements intertwine, bringing the album to a close with an emotional afterglow. This wide-ranging soundscape—spanning from the club scene to church-like choruses—demonstrates the band’s rapid evolution and unique identity.
