David Oistrakh (1908-1974) is arguably one of the greatest violinists of all time, known for his rich tone, unparalleled sense of legato, warm, powerful, deep tone, incredible proficiency with the bow, and immediately recognizable sound. His recordings have been acclaimed around the world and remain milestones in the classical music discography. This 2-CD record contains some of his best recordings, including moments of pure poetry, such as his wonderful performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with André Cluytens.Also included are the Kreutzer Sonata with legendary partner Lev Oborin and a selection of encores with Vladimir Yampolsky. The entire program has been remastered from the original tapes to the latest 2024 remastering, and the brilliance of Oistrakh's artistry calls out to the modern listener. (Warner Music)
