Linda Ronstadt, who is considered a leading figure of West Coast rock and was hailed as the “Diva of the West Coast,” was one of the superstars who led not only the West Coast but the entire American music scene from 1970 to 1980. However, since the mid-1990s, she has been forced into semi-retirement due to illness. Now, a rare live archive from her heyday in the 1970s has been released!
She began her career as a musician in the 1960s, and after a long period of working her way up, the single “Heart Like a Wheel” from her 1974 album *Heart Like a Wheel* reached No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart, launching her on a rapid rise to success. Her singles and albums became massive hits, and her 1978 album *Miss America* (original title: *Living in the U.S.A.*) achieved double-platinum status upon its release, marking a mega-hit. Riding this wave of success, Linda Ronstadt performed her first concerts in Japan in 1979. During this tour, her performances at the Nippon Budokan (May 2 and 3) were recorded and broadcast as a special program by a radio station. This album is a live recording based on the audio from that broadcast. The broadcast features a selection of the best tracks from both nights, allowing listeners to fully appreciate the full scope of her first Japan tour.
While the majority of the songs performed consist of tracks by artists with whom Linda Ronstadt had collaborated or songs that influenced her, she also delivers outstanding, brilliant performances of her own original songs, reflecting her unique talent. This live album is truly a magnificent chronicle of Linda Ronstadt at the peak of her career.
