Porcupine Tree, a band synonymous with the modern British progressive rock scene, has released a newly remastered 2012 edition of "The Sky Moves Sideways" (originally released on Delerium in the UK in 1994) on the newly established Transmission The remastered version of "The Sky Moves Sideways," released on the UK's Delerium label in 1994, has been newly reissued on the newly established Transmission label by Snapper Music, and is now available in a Japan-only double paper jacket with Japanese obi commentary!
The Sky Moves Sideways" is the third studio album since the debut album, and while the previous albums were Stephen Wilson's solo works, this time he is joined by former Japan members Richard Barbieri (kbds) and Colin Edwin (b), Chris Maitland (ds), and guests Ricky Edwards (perc), Theo Travis (fl), and Richard's wife Suzanne Jacqueline Barbieri on vocals, establishing a band sound during the making of this album. The band also actually began performing live as a band after "The Sky Moves Sideways" was completed.
The drum machine used on "Dislocated Day" and "The Moon Touches Your Shoulder" was replaced with live drums by current Porcupine Tree member Gavin Harrison (ds) on the 2004 remastered version. This album has the same composition.
This album is regarded as a masterpiece by fans of the band, as it is the first album in which the band's sound has emerged from the realm of solo work to that of a modern British progressive rock band.
