Description:

Based on the wildly popular manga series *Bokutachi ga Ita*, which began serialization in Shogakukan’s *Monthly Betsucomi* in 2002. The series achieved an astonishing cumulative circulation of over 12 million copies (16 volumes total) for a shōjo manga and won the 50th Shogakukan Manga Award (Shōjo Category) in 2004, proving itself a hit both in popularity and artistic merit. This beloved national comic, cherished for over a decade, is finally being adapted into a film! Starring Toma Ikuta—a rising star in Japanese cinema known for his popularity and talent, having appeared in 2010’s *No Longer Human*, *Seaside Motel*, and *Hanamizuki*, as well as 2011’s *The Tale of Genji: The Mystery of a Thousand Years*—and Yuriko Yoshitaka, a versatile actress who has displayed overwhelming individuality in films such as "Before We Get Married," the two-part "GANTZ," "Kaiji 2," and "Robot," join forces for their first-ever collaboration as co-leads, captivating audiences with performances that vary dramatically depending on the work and style! Furthermore, talented young actors including Sōsuke Takaoka, Yui Kaori, and Manami Higa add brilliance to the film. Directed by Takahiro Miki, who made his feature film debut with *Solanin*. The screenplay is by Tomoko Yoshida, known for *Closed Note* and *Gaku*. The music is by Taku Matsutani, composer of *I'll Come to You Now* and *God's Chart*, bringing together the cream of Japanese cinema! The theme song is performed by Mr. Children. They have written two original songs—"Prayer ~Trajectory of Tears" for the first part and "pieces" for the second part. These tracks possess a grandeur befitting this epic love story while embodying the passage of time and the protagonists’ journey of growth, creating music that perfectly complements the emotional tone of each installment. This must-see 2012 love story—the first Japanese film to be released as a two-part series—will be available on DVD and Blu-ray for two consecutive months, just like the theatrical release!
