With the exception of two originals, the lineup features an appealing array of hard-hitting, melodically beautiful masterpieces from the past by the Jazz Giants. Some of the songs have novel arrangements, but they do not give the impression of being difficult to understand, and the three musicians intertwine with each other exquisitely throughout the album, creating a heightened sense of excitement. Hideaki Hori's modal pianism that pervades the entire album, drummer Masaki Akiba's fresh and lively driving force, and leader Hinako Kodoshima's robust tone filled with love for jazz, all three musicians' relaxed expressions succeed in portraying the appeal of contemporary jazz with a natural approach that is not limited to retrospectives of jazz works from the past. The three musicians have succeeded in creating a naturalistic approach to contemporary jazz that is not merely a retrospective of jazz works of yesteryear. All of the tracks, including the original, are full of great songs, but the highlight is Track 9, "S.O.S.," from the classic album "Full House," in which the trio takes on the extremely swingy world of the original. It is as if you can hear the shouts of joy from jazz fans.
