Following last year’s 20th anniversary of her major-label debut, this year marks another major milestone—the 25th anniversary of her musical career—making this the second consecutive year of celebrations. To commemorate this illustrious journey, her new album, *Happy-Go-Lucky*, is now being released. This album serves as a definitive collection of the repertoire Yamanaka—who has remained at the forefront of live performance for 25 years—wishes to share with her audience “right now,” ranging from songs she has performed live since her debut to the staples that color her current stage performances. It vividly portrays the music he has honed on stage over the years and nurtured together with his fans, presented through his current sensibilities and performance style. The album features Keith Jarrett’s “Memories of Tomorrow,” Carla Bley’s “Lawns,” Bill Evans and Miles Davis’s “Blue in Green,” George Russell’s “Living Time Event V,” Eliane Elias’s “Impulsive,” and George Gershwin’s “Summertime”—all masterpieces that have graced the history of jazz. Furthermore, the album features a diverse array of tracks, ranging from the vibrant Brazilian sound of Amilton Godoy’s “Choro” and Julian “J3PO” Pollack’s “Silver Lining” to Yamanaka’s original composition “Beverly” and even “Jingle Bells.” Yamanaka weaves together songs from different eras and styles with her signature bold yet meticulous arrangements, creating an album that transcends genres and generations. The band features Yoshi Waki (b) and John Davis (ds), who have supported Yamanaka’s music for many years. Centered around Yamanaka’s versatile piano and keyboard playing, the trio delivers a powerful groove and tight interplay. This anniversary album, packed with highlights, vividly captures the “present” of Chihiro Yamanaka—who continues to evolve even as she looks back on her 25-year career. The DVD included with the first-press limited edition features performances from the “Chihiro Yamanaka New York Trio Tour 2023,” held on September 28, 2023, at the Arios Small Theater in the Iwaki Arts and Culture Center to commemorate the release of her new album, *DolceVita*. This valuable live footage allows you to fully enjoy the Chihiro Yamanaka Trio’s thrilling performance and the unique energy of the stage.
