Description:
Trumpeter Yoshiro Okazaki and saxophonist Masanori Okazaki have been active at the center of the Japanese jazz scene since the 1990s. This is the first co-led album by the brothers—who have been members of the big band "Makoto Ozone's NoNameHorses" since its inception—and it is being released on "Mo-Zone," a new label founded by Ozone. Having focused on their individual projects in recent years, this marks their first activity as a brother duo in roughly 20 years. The album consists entirely of original compositions by Yoshiro Okazaki (9 tracks) and Masanori Okazaki (3 tracks), showcasing a refreshing, straight-ahead sound that captures the true essence of modern jazz. Masato Kozono, who has long held the brothers’ musicality in high regard, serves as producer. In addition to Kozono, the rhythm section of NoNameHorses (Shinpei Ogawa and Shinnosuke Takahashi) also participates. (C)RS
