Michel Ndegeocello's first new album in a year, and a major hit, is dedicated to Baldwin, the "Angry Black Writer" celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth. Michel Ndegeocello is one of the greatest producers, bassists, singers and songwriters of our time. His Blue Note debut, "Omnichord Real Book" (2023), was highly acclaimed and won a Grammy Award, and his sold-out concert in Japan in February 2024 attracted a great deal of attention. This is her second album for Blue Note, and her first in a year, following "Omnichord Real Book. The album depicts a world that transcends various genres and is unique to her. It is a one-of-a-kind musical experience that encompasses church festivals, conversations with others, and social messages. Produced by Michelle herself and guitarist Chris Bruce.Participating musicians include up-and-coming young talents such as Julius Rodriguez, Abe Lounds, and Justin Hicks, as well as Jamaican poet Stacey Ann Chin, who has been featured in works by Robert Glasper and Tana Alexa, among others, for her reading. The festival also features readings by Stacey Ann Chin, a Jamaican poet whose work has been featured in works by Robert Glasper and Tana Alexa. This highly anticipated and ambitious work will be released on August 2, the 100th anniversary of Baldwin's birth.
