Janusz Oleinichuk, the youngest prize winner at the age of 18 at the time, is now available on CD! NIFC (Chopin Institute/Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina) of Poland has released Janusz Oleinichuk's live performance at the Chopin Competition, which was previously announced on LP (NIFCLP007S), in CD The CD version of Janusz Oleinichuk's live performance of the 8th Chopin Competition held in 1970 will also be released! The 8th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1970 was held in October, the anniversary of Chopin's death, instead of February or March, and became the first "Chopin Competition in October," which continues to this day. In 2025, Garrick Ohlsson, who served as jury president, became the first American to win the 19th Competition, and Mitsuko Uchida recorded the second place, the highest Japanese ever (tied with Kyohei Sanda in 2021), a feat that has not yet been broken. The 8th Janusz Oleinichuk was the youngest competitor to win a prize (6th place) at the 8th event, at the age of 18 at the time.He used a Steinway piano, which he felt was special to him at the time, and later recalled that the performance was "a bit sad and sentimental, but very authentic (authentic). This recording is etched with the pure artistic passion that transcended technicalities, which he dedicated to Chopin as a young man. He died suddenly in October 2024 (at the age of 72), and this is a rare live recording that can be regarded as the origin of the master Chopin player Oleyniczak. The original NIFC presents these recordings as a memorial edition. These recordings have only been partially released so far, and this NIFC release is the first time that they have been made into a coherent album. This CD version also includes "Scherzo No. 1," "Mazurka Op. 17-1," and "Mazurka Op. 17-3," which were cut from the LP version for reasons of recording time. Tokyo M-Plus
